Bhagwan Swaminarayan’s social and cultural work has been noted in the records of Indian and even British historians.  He revived the morals of Hindu dharma at the height of social and religious unrest, a time when religious norms had been so misinterpreted to tolerate violence, adultery, substance abuse, and superstition.  Mendicants, sorcerers, and religious leaders were extorting money and abusing people in the name of religion.  Bhagwan Swaminarayan and His paramhansas revived spirituality, transformed lives, empowered women, encouraged selfless service, and established equality among different castes, creeds, and religions.  He set the ultimate example of how one person’s commitment to society can have a lasting impact.
