On Sunday 26 February 2012, a highly successful and inspiring induction day for new entrees was attended by 140 new children (64 balaks and 76 balikas) as well as 245 parents at the recently-opened BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Leicester.
Manoharmurti Swami delivered the keynote address in which he spoke of the grave and pressing challenges faced by young people growing up in today’s technologically advanced and ever-changing world. Through real-life examples and a deep understanding of the way children think, he was able to provide an eye-opening experience for many of the parents who attended.
Manoharmurti Swami also candidly addressed the dilemmas facing parents and the vital role they play in the development of their children. He urged for a harmonious partnership between parents and the Bal-Balika Mandal, explaining how the Mandal plays a key part in ensuring a better future for their child and our community.
More than 80 children also signed up for the Kidz Ultimate Challenge that had been launched in January in London.
The feedback from those who attended was overwhelmingly positive, with many parents wanting to attend regular sabha themselves and to become involved with seva at the Mandir. Many were highly impressed with the organisation of the event and the help of the karyakars.
