His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj, spiritual leader of BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, sent a personal letter of prayers and condolences to Honourable Prime Minster Narendra Modi today. He wrote:
Today I heard the sad news of your mother’s passing. I offer my prayers at the holy feet Bhagwan Swaminarayan and guru Pramukh Swami Maharaj to grant her soul with peace and bless you with the strength to bear this sad loss.

Ishwarcharandas Swami, senior swami of BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, also offered his prayers and condolences on behalf of the BAPS Swaminarayan fellowship. He said, “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Heeraba, the mother of Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi, who passed away at the age of 100. We offer our sincere prayers to Bhagwan Swaminarayan, Pramukh Swami Maharaj and Mahant Swami Maharaj to grant her soul the eternal bliss of God’s abode and to bless her entire family with the strength to endure this difficult time.
“Heeraba will be remembered for gifting this nation with our Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi under whose able leadership we have witnessed the rapid growth and development of both Gujarat and India. Heeraba passed away soon after Narendrabhai returned to Delhi, having recently visited her. Despite his busy schedule due to his ministerial duties in leading the nation, Narendrabhai always looked after his mother, visiting with her and spending quality time with her conversing and having meals together. Narendrabhai’s love, affection and respect for his mother is an inspiration to us all and a reminder for us to serve our parents as taught by our Hindu culture.
