In his address, Sheikh Nahayan said, “Today marks the beginning of something special. The new Mandir will serve both as a place of worship and also as a community centre.”
HE Sheikh Nahayan said to Mahant Swami Maharaj, “Your visit, Your Holiness, is an opportunity for us to marvel at your example in working cooperatively to resolve conflicts between different communities and to build a spirit of tolerance as a gateway to understanding, mutual respect, and peace.”
Leading members of the UAE and Indian governments had been present in the assembly, including (from the right) Vinay Mohan Kwatra, Foreign Secretary of India; HE Sunjay Sudhir, Indian Ambassador to the UAE; and HE Dr Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Chairman of the Department of Community Development for the UAE
In his keynote address, Prime Minister Modi said, “Today, the UAE has written a golden chapter in the history of humanity through this Mandir.”
Prime Minister Modi added: “The BAPS Hindu Mandir is for all of humanity. So I have every faith that the Mandir will usher in a new age of faith and hope, bringing the whole world together in harmony and collaboration.”
Renowned actors Akshay Kumar and Vivek Oberoi were also present for the Mandir's dedication
Prime Minister Modi received a rousing response when he stated, “I may not be qualified to serve as a pujari [attendant priest] at any mandir, but I do know that I am a pujari of Mother India.”
