H.E. Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman and CEO of DP World and Chairman of the Ports, Customs & Free Zone Corporation, along with his son Ghanim Bin Sulayem, visited the BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi, spending nearly two hours at the Mandir.
Swami Brahmaviharidas warmly thanked H.E. Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem for standing with the Mandir’s creation at every step — from facilitating transport of the stone during the challenges of COVID-19 to championing sustainable initiatives that continue to support the Mandir today. He noted that H.E. Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem’s presence before, during, and after the inauguration has been a true source of strength and inspiration for all who serve at the Mandir.
Honored to Witness a Remarkable Creation
In his reflections, H.E. Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem expressed deep admiration for the Mandir’s transformation, “I am honored that we came. I am honored that we participated in a small part of this amazing creation. Seeing what I saw today is so different from last time. This place is special because even the selection of its location was inspired. His Highness knew this would be the best place.”
From Scaffolding to a Masterpiece
“The time when I came with you earlier, the Mandir was not yet finished. I saw scaffolding, unpaved floors, and piles of sand. You told me about what would come — a wall built using the highest technology of 3D printing, immersive screens, and intricate designs. I could understand what you were saying, but I could not visualize it then. Today, to see it complete — it is amazing.”
Harmony in Design and Reception
“It was built as one whole, everything fitting perfectly. Each piece aligns with the other. There is harmony in everything. The design itself inspires people, and to see it realized brings smiles to many faces.
“I also congratulate you on the reception given to visitors. From the way they are welcomed, to the spaces for sitting, eating, and walking, the journey itself is enriching. People do not just see a temple, they experience culture, learning, and understanding. This creates harmony and bridges cultures.”
Carvings That Tell Civilizational Stories
“The carvings are extraordinary — unmatched in this time and age, in their depth and detail. They bring alive civilizations and histories: from King Suleiman, to Indian epics, to cultures in Latin America and China.
“You look at a carving and immediately recognize its story. It is amazing — a level of effort and artistry I never imagined I’d see here.”
A Legacy of Harmony and Tolerance
“Let me say, harmony did not start with H.H. Sheikh Zayed — it was carried by his father, his grandfather, and ancestors before him. H.H. Sheikh Mohammed and his father carried this same legacy.
“This is why people of many ethnicities came here — especially Indians, who became the majority — and felt at home. One of the strongest assets of our country is tolerance.
“As H.H. Sheikh Zayed said, ‘It does not matter who your father or grandfather was; it matters what you do. You must create your own legend. This is our culture — harmony, equality, and respect before the law. It has always been this way, and it will continue through generations.’
“I cannot find just one word to describe it. All I can say is that this Mandir gives you an infinite feeling. Everything is complete, everything connects, and everything touches you.
“If you love history, you’ll find it here. If you love art, you will find it here. If you seek spirit, you will feel it here. It satisfies many needs — of the mind, the heart, and the soul. This is harmony. This is trust. This is how we have always lived together in the UAE. And I look forward to returning again to experience even more of this amazing place.”
A Place of Spirit, Not Just Structure
“This Mandir allows people to see not just the structure, but to feel the spirit. The people serving here tell the story without words — their dedication speaks to the heart.
“It is designed in such a way that the experience is made by people. The more you look, the more you realize this is not only one story, but many stories, connecting together. Each visitor creates their own impression.”
