This past summer, a total of 110 kishores and kishoris from across North America embarked on a journey of a lifetime through the Bharat Yatra 2025. The theme of the trip was Samp, meaning unity, not only among peers but across the entire satsang community.
Throughout the trip, the delegates learned and reflected upon the values of Mahima (Glory), Milan (Connection), Madad (Help), and Mafi (Forgiveness) as they traveled from the deserts of Abu Dhabi to the monsoon rains of South India and into the rich Hindu culture of Gujarat.
The journey began at BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham in Robbinsville, New Jersey, where the delegates prepared themselves mentally and spiritually to make the most of the experience. Soon after, they departed for the UAE, where they visited the recently inaugurated BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi. There, they learned about the principles of harmony and unity upon which the mandir was established. Often described as “a lotus in the desert,” the mandir stands as a beacon of peace and interfaith understanding amidst the vast landscape of sand.
Upon arriving in India, the delegates’ first stop was New Delhi, the capital city, where they visited BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham. They experienced the Sahajanand Water Show and learned about the history of Hindu culture and traditions through the Sanskruti Darshan boat ride. The journey continued to Ayodhya and Chhapaiya, where they visited the newly constructed Ram Mandir and walked the same sacred paths once traversed by Bhagwan Swaminarayan during His childhood. In Chhapaiya, the delegates not only heard stories of Ghanshyam Maharaj’s early life but also visited the very places where these stories took place, gaining a deeper understanding of His divine childhood.
After exploring North India, the delegates continued their journey through the vibrant landscapes of South India, from the sacred temples of Sriperumbudur, which echo with centuries of devotion, to the serene beaches of Rameshwaram. Their travels culminated at the southernmost tip of the subcontinent in Kanyakumari. Along the way, they immersed themselves in the region’s rich heritage, diverse traditions, and the profound spiritual history that continues to shape South India’s cultural identity.
The next stage of the Bharat Yatra brought the delegates to Gujarat, beginning in Surat. From there, they traveled throughout the state, visiting holy sites associated with the guru parampara, such as Mahelav and Chansad, and other mandirs. All their travels culminated in Sarangpur, where the delegates attended a week-long shibir titled “Brahmvidya College.” During this shibir, the delegates deepened their spiritual understanding and strengthened their connection with His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj. Senior swamis guided them through inspiring discourses, shared personal experiences, and offered practical insights on how to live with spiritual virtues in daily life.
Following the shibir, the delegates visited Bochasan, where they had the divine opportunity to sit in a 45-minute sabha with His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj. The theme of the sabha, “Yagnapurush Chhe Sathe,” reminded all that Shastriji Maharaj remains present through Mahant Swami Maharaj. Through His words and presence, Mahant Swami Maharaj blessed the delegates with memories and guidance that will last a lifetime, ensuring the journey left a lasting positive impact on their spiritual lives.
The Bharat Yatra 2025 provided delegates with a unique opportunity to experience the depth of India’s spiritual and cultural heritage. Each day was filled with learning, reflection, and devotion. Every topic of the shibir was personally chosen by Mahant Swami Maharaj, allowing each delegate to walk away with a deeper understanding of their faith. Through his guidance, they connected every moment as a personal lesson to apply in their own lives. This journey not only allowed the delegates to witness the beauty and diversity of India but also helped them rediscover the enduring strength of faith, unity, and devotion that defines the BAPS community.
