When Arjun was being taught the art of archery, his Guru Dronacharya told him to see only the eye of the bird he was targeting. By focusing solely on the eye, Arjun was able to flawlessly hit his target.  Yet when it came to waging a war against evil, Arjun was disheartened and could barely lift his bow.  Only with the guidance of Bhagwan Shri Krishna was he able to overcome this and succeed. It is with this idea that the women of BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha in Mandirs across North America celebrated the birth of Bhagwan Shri Krishna with a cultural program that revolved around the theme “Tamaso ma jyotir gamaya” which means, ‘Lead me from darkness to light’.

Bhagwan Shri Krishna guided the Pandavas throughout the Mahabharat and led them to the light of victory as a result of them following Bhagwan’s wishes. The audience witnessed these and various other anecdotes through a number of performances including skits, dances, and speeches.  His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj inspires devotees throughout North America to maintain their cultural heritage through events such as these and pass those same values on to future generations.
