BAPS has worked out the plan for the permanent rehabilitation of the earthquake victims. It has planned to adopt 8 villages in Kachchh district. Some of the facts of this plan are as follows:

BAPS plans to begin their rehabilitation efforts to house 1,157 families in the Kachchh and Saurashtra regions. We will be adopting 8 villages where we fulfill their needs for all structures  from individual houses to water tanks to community halls. The list of villages which BAPS is adopting is as follows:

BAPS has designed the houses to be built, taking into account the following factors :

  • Specific usage and customs of the local populace
  • Earthquake resistance and nonfatal designing
  • Seasons harsh winters and summers to be borne by the structure
  • Size of the families

Three different sizes of new houses will be constructed, to accommodate small and large families, from 2 persons to 7 persons per family.

The infrastructure to be provided as part of our construction services for houses will include internal and external infrastructure.

A.  Internal Infrastructure to be provided in each house:

  1. Earthquake Resistant Design (Refer Enclosed Design Drawing)
  2. Electricity
  3. Light (Fan if Needed)

B.  External Infrastructure to be provided in the adopted village

  1. Water Tank, Water Stand, Water Purification System
  2. Roads
  3. Underground Electricity Cables
Section 3 : Environment
 
Fresh water:
  • Water Tanks with ground water supply in each village. Each of the villages has a     high enough water table to supply drinking water for all families.
  • Water purification plants are being supplied to the villages where there is a need to     purify water before drinking

Fresh air:

  • Tree plantation – We will be planting 200 trees per village, mostly marking the     boundaries of public places such as the school, the water tank and other such     structures.
Section 4 : Education
 
Schools will be built in all the adopted villages.

Facilities like a blackboard, chairs and benches, a playground, space for a library will be provided.

We will be focusing on the construction of Primary schools and Kindergartens. These would have an average of 5 classrooms per village, costing approximately Rs. 540,000 per school. Each classroom would be 25 feet x 25 feet (approx. 7.5 mts x 7.5 Mts.) , and have a capacity of seating around 40 to 50 children.

Section 5 : Health
 
Medical attention will be administered through a primary health center (PHC) in each village. The health center will have the facilities to handle all basic medical needs, including first aid and non-surgical procedures.

We also intend to set up a multi specialties hospital at Bhuj by our team of dedicated doctors and paramedics.

Facilities will include:
Out Patient Department (OPD) :Gynecology, Pediatric, General Medicine, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT), Skin & Venereal Diseases (VD), Psychiatry, Urology, Nephrology, Ayurvedic (Traditional Indian herbal system of medicine), Homeopathy, Physiotherapy
Indoor Department : 50 bed indoors will accommodate : 10 medical patients, 10 gynecology and obstetrics patients, 10 surgical patients, 10 pediatric patients,10 ICCU / ICU / NICU patients
