Jimmy Carter, former President of the USA, arrived at the Mandir at 2.45pm. Pujya Atmaswarup Swami welcomed him in traditional Vedic style by applying a chandlo to his forehead, tying a nadachhadi on his wrist and singing of the 'Shanti Paath' (Peace Hymn). Mr. Carter was first shown the ‘Understanding Hinduism’ exhibition. He was very much impressed by the displays and praised the Sanstha for its wide-ranging activities and spirit of volunteerism. Then he was taken for darshan of the Mandir. He was most impressed by the beauty and quality of the sculptings and architecture of the Mandir. Under the main dome, before the murti of Lord Ghanshyam Maharaj, prayers were offered for peace, progress, prosperity, and purity in his life. And also for success in his various projects for peace. As the ex-President was led into the 'roop choki', he commented, "This is most remarkable. I will never forget this day of my life." Thereafter, Mr. Carter was shown the haveli auditorium, sports hall and other community facilities. At the end, he was presented with various mementos of his visit to the Mandir. Before leaving, having spent 45 minutes at the Mandir, he thanked everyone for such an inspiring and enjoyable visit and autographed the visitor’s book, "A truly beautiful and inspirational place!"
