Since the time of Bhagwan Swaminarayan, the holy village of Sarangpur (Dist. Botad) has been renowned for the Rangotsav festival.
In memory of the joyous, divine Rangotsav festivals celebrated here by Bhagwan Swaminarayan, the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha annually celebrates the Holi and Pushpadolotsav festivals here. This year the festival will be celebrated on Thursday, 21 March in Sarangpur.
Brahmaswarup Pramukh Swami Maharaj emphasized the spirituality of the Rangotsav and as a result tens of thousands of devotees were drawn to the celebration every year.
This festival is also celebrated in the presence of Pragat Brahmaswarup Mahant Swami Maharaj, the spiritual successor of Brahmaswarup Pramukh Swami Maharaj.
However, due to insufficient rainfall last year, the Gujarat government has declared a drought in the region. Under such circumstances, respecting its social obligations and to save water, by the instructions of Pragat Brahmaswarup Mahant Swami Maharaj, the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha has decided to celebrate the Pushpadolostsav-Holi festivals in a simple manner. International Convener for BAPS, Pujya Ishwarcharan Swami, informed, “Whether it is drought or earthquake relief work or support for the martyred soldiers of Pulwama, by the instructions of Param Pujya Pramukh Swami Maharaj and, presently, Param Pujya Mahant Swami Maharaj, the BAPS has led by example. Thus, in view of the drought, to save water, the Pushpadolotsav festival in Sarangpur on 21 March 2019 will be celebrated in the presence of Param Pujya Mahant Swami Maharaj without using water and the BAPS will demonstrate its support for the government’s initiative to save water.”
ભગવાન શ્રી સ્વામિનારાયણના સમયથી તીર્થધામ સારંગપુર (જિ. બોટાદ) અહીંના ઉત્સવ માટે અને ખાસ કરીને રંગોત્સવ માટે પ્રખ્યાત છે. ભગવાન શ્રી સ્વામિનારાયણે અહીં રંગોત્સવ કરીને સૌને દિવ્ય આનંદ આપ્યો હતો તેની સ્મૃતિમાં આજપર્યંત પ્રતિ વર્ષે હોળી-પુષ્પદોલોત્સવ પ્રસંગે અહીં બી.એ.પી.એસ. સ્વામિનારાયણ સંસ્થા દ્વારા રંગોત્સવ યોજવામાં આવે છે. બ્રહ્મસ્વરૂપ પ્રમુખસ્વામી મહારાજે અહીંના રંગોત્સવને એક વિશેષ આધ્યાત્મિક મહત્વ આપીને લાખો ભક્તોમાં તેનું અનોખું આકર્ષણ જન્માવ્યું હતું. બ્રહ્મસ્વરૂપ પ્રમુખસ્વામી મહારાજના અનુગામી પ્રગટ બ્રહ્મસ્વરૂપ મહંત સ્વામી મહારાજના સાંનિધ્યમાં પણ આ રંગોત્સવ ઉજવાય છે.
પરંતુ ગતવર્ષે જરૂરિયાત કરતાં ઓછો વરસાદ થયો હોવાને કારણે ગુજરાત સરકાર દ્વારા તાજેતરમાં દુષ્કાળની જાહેરાત કરવામાં આવી છે. આવા કટોકટીના સમયે પોતાની નૈતિક જવાબદારી સમજીને બી.એ.પી.એસ. સ્વામિનારાયણ સંસ્થા દ્વારા હંમેશાં સમાજહિત માટે પહેલ કરવામાં આવી છે. આથી દુષ્કાળની આ સમસ્યાને લક્ષમાં રાખીને, પાણીનો બચાવ કરવા માટે પ્રગટ બ્રહ્મસ્વરૂપ મહંત સ્વામી મહારાજની આજ્ઞાથી, બી.એ.પી.એસ. સ્વામિનારાયણ સંસ્થાએ પુષ્પદોલોત્સવ-હોળી પ્રસંગે રંગોત્સવની ઉજવણી સાદગીથી કરવાનું નિરધાર્યું છે. બી.એ.પી.એસ. સ્વામિનારાયણ સંસ્થાના આંતરરાષ્ટ્રીય સંયોજક પૂજ્ય ઈશ્વરચરણદાસ સ્વામી દ્વારા જણાવવામાં આવ્યું છે કે ‘દુષ્કાળનો પ્રસંગ હોય કે ભૂકંપરાહતકાર્ય હોય કે પુલવામા ખાતે શહીદ થયેલા સૈનિકોને સહાય આપવાની બાબત હોય, બી.એ.પી.એસ. સ્વામિનારાયણ સંસ્થાએ તેના સૂત્રધાર પરમ પૂજ્ય પ્રમુખસ્વામી મહારાજ અને તેમના અનુગામી પરમ પૂજ્ય મહંત સ્વામી મહારાજના આદેશ મુજબ આવા પ્રસંગે સૌને પ્રેરણા આપતી પહેલ કરી છે. એ જ રીતે આ વર્ષે દુષ્કાળની પરિસ્થિતિને લક્ષમાં રાખીને પાણીના બચાવ માટે સારંગપુર ખાતે તા. 21-3-2019ના રોજ પુષ્પદોલોત્સવનો કાર્યક્રમ પરમ પૂજ્ય મહંત સ્વામી મહારાજના સાંનિધ્યમાં યોજાશે પરંતુ તેમાં પાણીનો ઉપયોગ કરવામાં નહીં આવે. સરકારશ્રીના ‘પાણી બચાવો’ જાહેર હિતના અભિયાનમાં બી.એ.પી.એસ. સ્વામિનારાયણ સંસ્થા આ રીતે એક મહત્ત્વનું યોગદાન આપશે.’
