Volunteers from 18 BAPS mandirs and centres across the UK once again stepped forward in 2026 to help tidy and revitalise their local neighbourhoods.
Working together in towns and cities nationwide, the volunteers collected over 140 bags of litter, removing a wide range of waste and helping to enhance the cleanliness and appearance of the surrounding environment.
The activities formed part of The Great British Spring Clean – the country’s largest mass-action environmental campaign, which brings together thousands of individuals, community groups and schools to take part in litter-picking and environmental action.
The annual campaign is organised by Keep Britain Tidy, a leading independent environmental charity dedicated to inspiring, educating and enabling people across the country to care for and protect the environment in their communities.
In several locations, BAPS volunteers were joined by local councillors, residents and supporters who welcomed the initiative and appreciated the efforts to improve their neighbourhoods.
A resident in Birmingham shared their appreciation, commenting, “It's wonderful to see the temple volunteers giving their time to care for the local environment. Their efforts make a real difference to the community and the local area here is unrecognisable.”
The community outreach efforts were inspired by the guidance of His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj, who encourages respect for the environment and service to society as part of a broader commitment to social responsibility.
