This summer, devotees from across North America gathered at BAPS Swaminarayan Mandirs for a Satsang Shibir themed "Antarma Akshar Purushottam." Centered on the foundational principles of Akshar Purushottam Darshan, the shibir encouraged devotees to deepen their understanding of God, guru, and the path to spiritual liberation. Through scriptural reflections, historical accounts, and practical guidance, attendees explored how firm nishtha (conviction) in these principles can inspire lasting inner transformation.
During the shibir, senior swamis and recorded sessions highlighted the life, teachings, and contributions of Shastriji Maharaj, whose unwavering conviction in the Akshar Purushottam Upasana laid the foundation for BAPS. Sessions explored Bhagwan Swaminarayan's identity as Parabrahma through his own teachings, the accounts of the paramhansas, and the understanding shared by Gunatitanand Swami. Devotees also examined scriptural and historical evidence affirming Gunatitanand Swami as Aksharbrahma, drawing on the Vachanamrut and numerous incidents from his lifetime.
The shibir also highlighted Bhagwan Swaminarayan’s continued manifest presence (pragat) through the Ekantik Sant and how a devotee’s conviction is strengthened through a living connection with the Satpurush. Recorded blessings and question-and-answer sessions featuring His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj, along with presentations by senior swamis, emphasized that Gunatitanand Swami serves as the medium through which devotees connect with Bhagwan Swaminarayan and that, today, the Satpurush is the manifest form through whom devotees experience Bhagwan Swaminarayan. Sessions also highlighted how niyam-dharma (personal vows and religious duties), daily spiritual practices, and sincere efforts to live by these principles help devotees cultivate a stronger relationship with God and guru.
Throughout the shibir, devotees participated in live kathas (spiritual discourses), skits, kirtans (devotional songs), and interactive sessions that brought these teachings to life. Drawing on inspiring examples from Satsang history, attendees reflected on the transformative fruits of firm conviction, including fearlessness, unity, stability, and the courage to uphold spiritual disciplines that bring peace and happiness in this very life. The shibir reinforced that conviction in these three foundational principles can guide devotees in their daily lives, inspire positive inner transformation, and strengthen their spiritual journey.
