On May 10, 2026, the BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir in Huntsville, Alabama, joyfully marked a historic milestone with the celebration of its grand opening and the sacred Murti Sthapan Vidhi a traditional consecration ceremony for the installation of the divine images. The sacred murtis had been
originally consecrated on August 20, 2023, by His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj in Robbinsville, NJ.
The occasion drew over 1,200 devotees and well-wishers, with Pujya Gyanpriya Swami presiding over the Murti Sthapan Vidhi, accompanied by the chanting of Vedic Shlokas. True to the spirit of BAPS, the ceremony welcomed all attendees, reflecting the Mandir's founding vision as a spiritual home open to everyone.
The grand opening was the culmination of three days of joyous celebrations that began on the evening of May 8, 2026, with a Kirtan Aradhana, a devotional music program. Festivities continued on May 9, 2026 with a Vedic Yagna in the morning, a Women's Cultural Celebration in the afternoon, and a vibrant Nagar Yatra procession in the evening.
