Sarang is a weekend-long event in which balikas, kishoris, and yuvatis have the opportunity to offer their bhakti through garba. Inspired by the kirtan “Āp vachan nā megh malhāre, sārang thai nāchu”, the first Sarang was launched in July 2017 during HH Mahant Swami Maharaj’s vicharan in Chicago, IL. A few months later, the first Sarang in Indianapolis, IN, was held.
Eight years later, balikas, kishoris, and yuvatis joined in celebrating the 5th Sarang in Detroit, MI, from November 7-9, 2025. During the event, delegates participated in an outing to the University of Michigan, enjoyed an evening program centered around the importance of bhakti, and concluded the weekend by performing their heartfelt bhakti through garba.
This year, delegates had the unique opportunity to participate in a live garba format in which kishoris from Chicago, Indianapolis, and Milwaukee sang kirtans live- allowing delegates to offer bhakti through both singing and dancing. Delegates left the weekend feeling reenergized with one goal in mind: to make every action a form of bhakti to earn the rajipo of Bhagwan Swaminarayan and His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj.
