Neasden Temple’s annual summer fair welcomed thousands of visitors over the long weekend of 11 to 13 July 2025, bringing together individuals and families from across the community for three vibrant days of culture, cuisine, and celebration.
The joyous community event was a part of the 30th anniversary celebrations of the iconic Hindu mandir, since its inauguration in 1995 by His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj.
The festivities commenced on the evening of Friday 11 July with an uplifting programme of devotional singing by swamis and youths that provided a peaceful, spiritual tone for the weekend ahead.
The fair was officially inaugurated on Saturday 12 July by Captain Simon Cheadle, Director of Flight Operations at British Airways. He was warmly welcomed by volunteers and guests and commended the Mandir’s efforts in hosting such an inclusive and joyful event that celebrates diversity and community spirit.
Throughout the day, visitors explored more than 30 different market stalls representing local businesses and community organisations. Offerings ranged from artisan crafts and home décor to clothing, financial services, and travel – all reflecting the creativity and enterprise of the wider community.
The much-anticipated food court remained a highlight of the event, captivating visitors with a vibrant and varied culinary experience. A fusion of traditional delights and contemporary flavours created an irresistible atmosphere, where familiar tastes met creative new offerings. With something to satisfy every palate – whether savoury, sweet, or refreshing – the food court brought people together through its rich variety and warm, welcoming aromas.
Live performances on the cultural stage continued throughout both days, offering an engaging programme of music, dance and wellness activities. From energetic drumming and classical dance to soulful bhajans, yoga, and more, the stage entertained and inspired guests of all ages. Saturday concluded with an evening of music, rhythm, and soul as the acclaimed Alap Desai captivated hearts with a fusion of classical melodies and contemporary compositions.
Families and children also enjoyed a lively funfair with rides, including bumper cars, rollercoasters, trampolines, and carousels. Face painting, henna art, and traditional games added to the festive atmosphere, while the Health Hub promoted well-being with smoothie-making bikes and nutritious snacks. A second-hand clothes stall proved especially popular, selling out completely and reflecting the community’s strong commitment to sustainable living.
A particular highlight for many young visitors was the British Airways A350 flight simulator, which offered an immersive and educational experience into aviation. Aspiring pilots and enthusiasts had the opportunity to step into the cockpit and learn more about careers in the skies.
The Paris Mandir Gift Shop also attracted many visitors, with new merchandise and unique souvenirs allowing guests to take home special mementoes from the weekend.
Reflecting on the event, lead volunteer Randhir Patel shared, “The Summer Fair is always a highlight of our calendar, and this year was no exception. The spirit of togetherness, the dedication of our volunteers, and the generosity of all our supporters made it another memorable day for the whole community. Our heartfelt thanks goes to everyone – all the volunteers, stall-holders, performers, guests, and supporters – whose selfless contributions and wholehearted participation helped make the Summer Fair 2025 another remarkable success.”
