More than 500 children and family members were inspired by the ‘Island of Heroes: Children’s Cultural Adventureland’ at Hansfield Educate Together National School in Dublin 15, Ireland, on Sunday 29 June 2025.
Organised by BAPS Ireland’s Bal-Balika Mandal and Kishore-Kishori Mandal, the event marked a landmark initiative to bring together the local community for a day of joyful learning and values-based inspiration, entirely free of charge.
The ‘Island of Heroes’ was an immersive and interactive experience designed to engage children and families through a vibrant blend of storytelling, educational activities, games, and cultural performances. The ‘Island of Heroes’ had several attractions, including the ‘Mountain of Shravan’ shadow play, a 3D experience on climate change, a Ramayan-based production called the ‘Sea of Squirrels’, an escape room challenge, and a live magic show. Each activity was carefully curated to not only entertain, but also instil timeless values such as hard work, selfless service, environmental care, mutual respect, and community harmony.
Alongside the main attractions, families enjoyed indoor and outdoor fun activities, including bouncy castles, face painting, henna art, mascots, indoor games, and delicious food stalls. These vibrant elements created a festival-like atmosphere that kept children engaged and smiling throughout the day.
The planning and execution of the event were led by a core team of eight youth volunteers, supported by 61 dedicated helpers, many of them children and teenagers themselves. Their energy, commitment, and sense of seva ensured smooth check-ins, engaging content, and a safe, welcoming environment for all attendees.
The event left a lasting impact on the community. Many parents expressed appreciation for the inspiring messages, the professionalism of the young organisers, and the opportunity for their children to learn through fun and culturally enriching activities.
The ‘Island of Heroes’ in Dublin beautifully presented the spirit of teamwork, seva, and cultural celebration. With support from Fingal County Council and the Fingal Integration Office, the event was a testament to what young volunteers and a united community can achieve.
As the event concluded, families left uplifted, inspired, and connected – ready to nurture the values they had experienced and to carry forward the legacy of heroism in their own lives.
