The inauguration of the newly renovated BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Loughborough, UK, was celebrated between Friday 8 August and Sunday 10 August 2025.
With the blessings of His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj, who had performed the murti consecration on 2 May 2025 in Kanad, Surat, India, Atmatruptdas Swami, Aksharviharidas Swami and Yogvivekdas Swami ceremonially installed the sacred murtis in the renovated mandir. Several swamis from London also joined the occasion, together with hundreds of devotees and guests from across the country, while many more participated online via a live webcast.
This long-awaited ceremony marked a new chapter of the continued tireless devotion and selfless service by local devotees and volunteers.
The weekend of celebrations commenced on Friday with a Vedic mahapuja, in which devotees and well-wishers prayed for peace, harmony, well-being, and prosperity to prevail locally and throughout the world.
On Saturday morning, a joyous shobha yatra (procession) was held through the streets of Loughborough.
Speaking on the historic occasion, Vinay Sutaria, lead volunteer at the Mandir, shared, “The Mandir is a second home to many people so it’s great to have had so many volunteers helping to complete the renovations within ten weeks. We can now offer a dedicated space for children, youths, and seniors to engage in various activities.”
The newly renovated mandir will continue to serve as a place of worship for the local congregation and as a hub for the spiritual, cultural, charitable, and community activities of BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha in Loughborough and the wider Charnwood region.
