Diwali, the Festival of Lights, is celebrated worldwide by Hindus, Jains, Sikhs, and some Buddhists. In the United States, it has become a cherished moment of cultural celebration, uniting diverse communities in honoring the triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil.
For years, BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha has hosted Diwali celebrations at state capitols across the country, bringing together elected officials and community leaders. In 2025, these gatherings continued that tradition, offering an opportunity to reflect on the universal values that Diwali represents — unity, hope, and service.
Through the lighting of traditional diyas (ceremonial lamps), inspiring remarks, and vibrant cultural presentations, Diwali at state capitols served as a powerful reminder that light and harmony can bring people together across backgrounds and beliefs.
As the glow of diyas illuminated state capitols, officials and citizens alike gathered in a shared celebration of cultural richness and civic unity. The Diwali celebrations at the state capitols stood as a testament to how ancient traditions continue to inspire community, compassion, and collective upliftment in today’s world.
