Inaugurated on 12 April 2015 by His Holiness Pujya Mahant Swami Maharaj, the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Green Fields, Adelaide, celebrated its 10th Patotsav (anniversary).
The three-days of festivities commenced on the evening of 18 April with the devotional singing of bhajans by swamis and devotees.
On 19 April, Mahila Din (Women’s Day) was marked with a vibrant cultural program, in which women devotees presented traditional folk dances and thematic skits as well as inspirational speeches highlighting the significance of mandirs, and the role of women in community and society. The program emphasized traditional values and the importance of spiritual engagement. The festivities concluded with a spectacular fireworks display, symbolizing the joy and unity of the community in marking this significant milestone.
On 20 April, the 10th Patotsav was celebrated with a mahapuja and a patotsav assembly in the presence of BAPS swamis, devotees and dignitaries.
The assembly reflected on the journey of the mandir over the last 10 years, its impact on the community, and its special significance. Swamis shared inspiring stories of the mandir’s role in spiritually uplifting lives, and reinforced the importance of unity and devotion in the community.
Amongst the distinguished guests present on this occasion were Tony Zappia MP, Member for Makin; John Fulbrook MP, Member for Playford; Cr. Chad Buchanan, Deputy Mayor for Central Ward; Cr. Wasim Saeed, City of Port Adelaide Enfield; Cr. Surender Pal Chahal, City of West Torrens; Cr. Jagdish Lakhani, Campbelltown City Council; as well as various community leaders.
