United States Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom Mr. Rashad Hussain visited the BAPS Hindu Mandir Abu Dhabi on Tuesday 8 November 2022. During his afternoon visit, the ambassador shared the United States's support of religious freedom across the world and specially appreciated the significance such a traditional Hindu mandir in the Gulf region. BAPS sadhus and volunteers also shared their experience of tolerance and harmony in the UAE – especially from its leadership. The ambassador and his delegation were also surprised and pleased to learn that the mandir would include not just Hindu histories and murtis but also architectural nods to the culture of the Gulf Coast Countries and moral stories from across the world.
Reflecting on his visit, Ambassador Hussain shared, "I was pleased to visit the Abu Dhabi Mandir and talk with members about their experience living in the UAE. Once completed, this will be the first traditional Hindu stone mandir in the Middle East."
