The 98th birth anniversary of Pramukh Swami Maharaj was joyously celebrated on Saturday 15 December 2018 at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, London.
The evening assembly began with a medley of bhajans depicting some of Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s virtues.
A series of discourses from swamis explored Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s pure and unconditional devotion to God, his exemplary observance of spiritual tenets, selfless love for humanity, and complete detachment from ego. Swamis also shared examples of recognition that these virtues earned from many prominent world and spiritual leaders.
Their discourses were supported by a series of testimonies from those who experienced Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s perfection of these and many other virtues. Their narrations were interspersed with a montage of video presentations illustrating Pramukh Swami Maharaj demonstrating these virtues throughout his life.
Youths paid tribute to Pramukh Swami Maharaj through an uplifting dance performance. Video blessings from Mahant Swami Maharaj during Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s birth celebrations held earlier in Rajkot were also shared with the congregation.
Children, youths and senior devotees then marked the birth celebrations of Pramukh Swami Maharaj with a joyous procession, carrying Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s murti on a decorated chariot through the prayer hall.
The festivities were concluded with the ritual offering of flowers to Pramukh Swami Maharaj by swamis as a mark of reverence and devotion.
