Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh is situated on the northwestern part of the Himalayan Mountain Range. By the grace of Bhagwan Swaminarayan and with the inspiration of His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj, Pujya Ishwarcharan Swami visited Shimla in the year 2009. During that time the weekly Satsang Sabha on Sundays were started at a devotee's home. Thereafter, Swaminarayan satsang continued to grow steadily helped by the constant visits of senior sadhus, which created a need for a mandir for the growing satsang sampradaya in Shimla.
The foundation stone-laying ceremony (Shilanyas Vidhi) for a mandir in Shimla was performed on 10 April, 2015 in the presence Pujya Swayamprakashdas Swami (Pujya Doctor Swami), Pujya Tyagvallabh Swami and 22 other sadhus. Hundreds of devotees participated in the vedic mahapuja ceremony conducted by sadhus. The mahotsav assembly was attended by over 200 invited guests and devotees.
The consecrated stones, as well as hundreds of bricks consecrated by devotees in the onsite Vedic ceremony, were laid in the foundation during the event. The participants prayed that the mandir may contribute to peace in the individual, family, community and world.
