Bhagwan Swaminarayan and His spiritual lineage have sanctified Nadiad, the largest city of district Kheda, several times. Around 200 years ago, this town witnessed the historic meeting of Bhagwan Swaminarayan with Bishop Reginald Heber. Param Pujya Pramukh Swami Maharaj has built a Smruti Mandir at that location.

By the grace of Bhagwan Swaminarayan and with the inspiration of Pujya Pramukh Swami Maharaj, a mandir was inaugurated in 1982 and the BAPS Swaminarayan Chhatralaya in 1991. An increase in satsang since then has made a larger Mandir necessary, for which a Shilanyas vidhi was held in Yogi Farm on Piplag Road.

The foundation stone-laying ceremony (Shilanyas Vidhi) was performed on the morning of December 13, 2015 in the esteemed presence of Pujya Keshavjivan Swami (Pujya Mahant Swami), Pujya Swayamaprakash Swami (Pujya Doctor Swami), Pujya Tyagvallabh Swami, Pujya Bhaktipriya Swami (Pujya Kothari Swami), Pujya Ishwarcharan Swami, Pujya Ghanshyamcharan Swami and other sadhus. After the pujan vidhi the shilas were laid in the ground by the Sadguru Santo.

The shilas and the nidhi kumbh placed in the foundation had been sanctified and blessed by Pramukh Swami Maharaj in Sarangpur, India on November 22, 2015. Over 5,000 yajman took part in the Mahapuja vidhi. The participants prayed that the Mandir may contribute to peace in the individual, family, community and world.

Sarvamangal Swami spoke on the history of the mandir and satsang in Nadiad, after which children performed a colorful dance. Thereafter, Pujya Mahant Swami blessed the assembly. More than 13,000 devotees attended the ceremony.
