The South-West Region’s 6th annual Yogi Cup Basketball Tournament was held at Slaters Sports Zone in Richmond, TX from December 18-20 2011. With over 121 participants and 22 teams, the three day event helped the kishores to create samp among them, make new friends and have fun.

The tournament began on Sunday, December 18 when kishores across the region arrived to BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Houston for the opening of the tournament. The evening program had discourses on keeping samp amongst each other followed by a team building activity. On the second day, the kishores played regular season games within their division. After the regular season concluded, the 3-point contest and all-star game was played. Evening program had skits from Yogiji Maharaj’s 108 tales of wisdom. On the final day, however, the teams were put to the real test with single-elimination playoff games, in order to determine which team was the best.

Finally, at the end of the tournament, the winners of the Yogi Cup received trophies for their hard work and effort during the two-day tournament. It was a great weekend event for all the kishores who attended. The Yogi Cup Basketball Tournament  really brought the region together. The kishores bonded through basketball and other activities, but there was also time allotted for Satsang development. Kishores and Karyakars discussed various topics during their gosthis, and listened to discourses by revered swamis during their evening program.
