More than 500 people from across the UK and parts of Europe arrived at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Wellingborough to celebrate the Suvarna Kalash Mahotsav of the mandir in Mill Lane. The date of Bhadarva Sud 4, 2066 (Saturday 11 September 2010) also marked the first Patotsav (anniversary) of the Mandir’s opening and the eagerly awaited completion of works.

Arriving devotees and guests were able to have darshan of the newly installed kalash and shikhars (pinnacles) from afar. Inside the assembly hall, exquisite paintings of Bhagwan Swaminarayan and the Guru Parampara have brought the Mandir to life. After the traditional dhun and prarthana, attendees participated in a special mahapuja conducted by sadhus to celebrate the completion of the Mandir and its first Patotsav.

A slideshow presentation illustrated the impact and interaction of the Mandir with the local community, highlighting the various outreach programmes – such as blood donation drives and charity fundraising events – that have been organised by the Mandir.

Yogvivek Swami then spoke of the history of Satsang in Wellingborough and the Mandir. He also emphasised that although the memorable day marked a completion of works, it also marked the beginning of an opportunity to excel further internally and to grow together in spiritual and charitable activities
