સત્પુરુષ મળે ત્યારે સમજાય...

લંડનમાં એક પરદેશી ગૃહસ્થે સ્વામીશ્રીને કહ્યું : 'મેં કુરાન, યહૂદીનો ગ્રંથ તાલમુડ વગેરે ગ્રંથો વાંચ્યા છે, પણ તેનાથી તો મને થયું છે કે હું નીચ છું. આપના જોગથી એવું નથી લાગતું. પણ મને ભાગ્યશાળી સમજું છું.'
સ્વામીશ્રીએ ધર્મગ્રંથોમાં તેની શ્રદ્ધાને સંકોરતાં કહ્યું : 'સદ્‌ગ્રંથોમાં લખેલી વાત સાચી હોય પણ જ્યારે સત્પુરુષ મળે ત્યારે બરાબર સમજાય. શાસ્ત્રોમાં જણાવ્યા મુજબ વર્તતા હોય તેવા પુરુષ મળે ત્યારે આનંદ આવે. હવે તે ગ્રંથ વાંચશો. તેમાંથી વધારે આનંદ આવશે.'
'મારું જ સાચું છે' એમ ઠરાવવા કરતાં તેના જ ગ્રંથોમાં શ્રદ્ધા દૃઢ કરાવનાર સ્વામીશ્રીની દૃષ્ટિ કેટલી વિશાળ છે !

Amdãvãd-3: A True Servant is a Humble Servant

“Yet, it appears to Me that an egotistical servant will not be liked by anyone. To have an egotistical servant serve one is like when during a famine, even the rich survive by eating kodrã; having an egotistical servant to serve one is similar to this. The master is not as pleased with an egotistical servant as much as he is with a humble servant. Therefore, he who does whatever pleases the master is a true servant.”

1876	30 Aug 1820	Wednesday	Vachanamrut Sarangpur-3 Shriji Maharaj gives the definitions of shravan, manan, nididhyas and sakshatkar, “To listen to a talk through one’s ears is known as ‘shravan’. Then, having heard the talk, to mentally ponder over the talk, and to discard that part of the talk which is fit to be discarded and to retain that part of the talk which is fit to be retained is known as ‘manan’. Then, having mentally retained the talk with conviction, the practice of continuously recalling the talk day and night is known as ‘nididhyas’. Finally, when one can recall that talk exactly as it was – as if it were manifest before one – with absolute clarity and spontaneity, that is known as ‘sakshatkar’.”

1880	17 Aug 1824	Tuesday	Vachanamrut Gadhada II-61 In this Vachanamrut, Shriji Maharaj describes three important qualities of a true devotee, “The first is to strictly adhere to the niyams prescribed by one’s Ishtadev – to such an extent that one would never forsake those disciplines even at the cost of one’s life. The second is to have extremely firm faith in God, so much so that one would never sway from it even if others or one’s own mind were to raise doubts. The third is to be loyal to those Vaishnav devotees who worship one’s Ishtadev – just as parents are loyal to their children, a son is loyal to his father, and a wife is loyal to her husband. One who possesses these three attributes completely can be called a staunch satsangi.”
