The Mandir
A Mandir is a Hindu place of worship and is considered the home of the Divine. This Mandir was constructed using 107,786 cubic feet of stone, including Italian Carrara marble and Turkish limestone. Its 34,671 intricately carved stone pieces were hand-carved by skilled artisans in India before being shipped to Atlanta and assembled like a three-dimensional jigsaw puzzle.
Within this sacred space, worshippers gather to meditate, offer prayers, and seek blessings from the murtis—sacred embodiments of the Divine. To foster reflection, devotion, and spiritual focus, the Mandir is maintained as a peaceful and respectful environment.

Bringing India Home
The vision for building this Mandir was inspired by His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj, the 5th spiritual successor of Bhagwan Swaminarayan and the spiritual leader of BAPS from 1971 to 2016. Through his devotion, foresight, and dedication to preserving Hindu values and traditions, Pramukh Swami Maharaj envisioned mandirs as places of worship, learning, service, and spiritual inspiration for generations to come.
The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Atlanta, located in Lilburn, Georgia, was officially inaugurated on August 26, 2007. The sacred consecration ceremony, known as Murti Pratishtha, was performed by His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj, formally establishing the divine presence of the sacred murtis within the Mandir. Since its opening, the Mandir has welcomed visitors from around the world as a place where spirituality, culture, art, and community come together.
