The department of Cardiology offers most current and specialized diagnostic and treatment services. Our integrated amenities are supported by highly qualified and experienced doctors, nurses and support staff; The department boasts of state-of-the-art specialized diagnostic equipment and treatment facilities. This makes our hospital one of the premier institutions for cardiac care in the city.
Our highly trained and proficient cardiologists are accompanied by experienced cardiac surgeons provide excellent all-encompassing care for any heart ailment.
We strongly believe in “Patient Centric” treatment so that informed and evidence-based decisions are taken for every patient, every time.

The Center offers these comprehensive services:

Non-Invasive Cardiology

Non-invasive cardiology provides an effective approach to diagnosing and treating heart-related issues, such as coronary artery disease, without the need for surgical interventions. It involves tests which are generally considered as the basic and essential steps towards a cardiac evaluation.
  • Transthoracic Echocardiography with color Doppler - 2D, 3D
  • Transeosophageal ECHO - 2D, 3D
  • Stress ECHO - Dobutamine Exercise
  • Pediatric Congenital ECHO
  • Electrocardiogram (ECG)
  • Holter Monitoring
  • Computerized Tread Mill Test (TMT)
  • Ambulatory BP Monitoring

Interventional Cardiology

Invasive cardiology involves open or minimally invasive operations to locate and treat electrical or structural abnormalities in the cardiac system.  These are generally considered advanced forms of diagnostic or therapeutic techniques. The procedures under this section are carried out in our well-equipped and high-tech cardiac catheterization laboratories.

  • Coronary Angiography (CAG)
  • Coronary Angioplasty

Cardiac Thoracic Surgery

The cardiac surgical unit performs a wide range of surgeries, ranging from open-heart surgeries to aneurysm surgeries, with excellent results. We do total arterial revascularization of the heart off-pump with varying configurations of arterial conduits such as left and right internal mammary arteries, radial arteries, and gastro-epiploic arteries, individualized to the patient's requirements.

Off-pump or Beating Heart Surgery

Coronary bypass surgeries are performed using contemporary techniques, including off-pump artery bypass surgery. Over 99% of the surgeries are off-pump or beating heart surgeries. During off-pump or beating heart surgery, the heart-lung machine is not used. The surgeon uses advanced operating equipment to stabilize (hold) portions of the heart and bypass the blocked artery in a highly controlled operative environment. Meanwhile, the rest of the heart keeps pumping and circulating blood to the body. Beating heart coronary artery bypass surgery offers patients faster post-operative recovery and takes less of a toll on their systems than traditional cardiac surgery.

Minimally Invasive Coronary Artery Surgery

Conventional CABG, or coronary bypass surgery, is performed by splitting or cutting through the breastbone or sternum. MICAS, or MICS CABG, which stands for Minimally Invasive Coronary Artery Surgery, is a relatively new and advanced technique for performing coronary bypasses and is a safe and complete operation that has revolutionized the way coronary surgery is performed. In this technique, the heart is approached through the side of the left chest via a small 4cm incision.

Thoracic Surgery

The Center performs extensive and challenging thoracic procedures with effective results. These include operations for removal of malignancies from the lung and esophagus. With a team led by some of the best cardiothoracic surgeons, we perform minimally invasive procedures on the lung and esophagus as well as Video-assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS).

Heart Valve Surgery

Heart valve replacement is a specialized surgery which is performed for the treatment of abnormalities like Mitral Regurgitation (MR) or Aortic Stenosis. Mitral Regurgitation is a valvular heart disease which results in the abnormal leaking of blood through the mitral valve, from the left ventricle into the left atrium of the heart. Aortic Stenosis is a condition where the aortic valve becomes narrower than normal, impeding the flow of blood. Different types of heart valve surgeries are routinely performed by the Center for Cardiac Sciences at BAPS Shastriji Maharaj Hospital.
