Knowledge is not only confined between the two cardboard covers of a book. A treasure of knowledge is found with the life skills, values, and experiences.
With an air of excitement, the Students of BAPS SVMR std 10 attended the seminar on ‘Talk and interaction with Mr. Sonam Wangchuk at The Ahmedabad Management Association on 25th April 2018.
Sonam Wangchuk is a Ladakhi engineer, innovator, and education reformist. He is the founding director of the Students' Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh (SECMOL) and currently setting up HIAL - Himalayan Institute of Alternatives, Ladakh.
The seminar was a quite interesting one. The students had great fun with Mr. Sonam Wangchuk, who astonishingly transformed Ladakh and its education system in such way for which he was awarded. The Rolex award, honourary Doctorate award and so on. He even epitomized the culture and art of Ladak. He encouraged students to move beyond books and receive learning and education to bring in real change.
Hence, the seminar turned out to be a fruitful one - understanding that learning is not only mugging up formulas and chemical equations but to apply them in real life.
