Rising an impressive 10 stories on a compact 913 sqm footprint, the new BAPS Dar-es-Salaam Mandir showcases a unique and striking architectural style rooted in Hindu tradition. Hindu mandir architecture typically draws from two distinct styles: Nāgara and Dravidian. Ancient mandirs of these styles are renowned for their exquisite carvings, intricate stonework, and precisely defined spaces.

Abhishek Mandapam
At the heart of the mandir, located on the northern side of the nij mandir, stands a gilded brass murti of Shri Nilkanth Varni — Bhagwan Swaminarayan. It is enshrined as a tribute to His inspiring journey as a young yogi, and as a reminder of His ideals of discipline, devotion, and service.
Abhishek is a long-standing Hindu tradition of offering devotion through sacred bathing. The Abhishek of Nilkanth Varni is a daily ritual of devotion and peace in the mandir. As sacred water and panchamrut are offered to the murti with prayers and chants, devotees come forward to make their heartfelt wishes before God. Many pray for the well-being of their family, strength to face challenges, and spiritual growth.
