Mandirs: An Introduction
A mandir (Hindu place of worship) is best understood as a multi-purpose sacred environment.
At its center is worship: people come to offer prayer, practice devotion, and seek inner peace. Mandirs also function as places of learning where values and teachings are shared through talks, classes, and guided explanations of ritual meaning.
Visitors also experience mandirs as cultural and community centers, especially during festivals, when families gather across generations.

The Prayer Dune marks the beginning of the BAPS Hindu Mandir, where the sacred ‘Charanarvind’ (holy footprints) commemorate the historic prayer by HH Pramukh Swami Maharaj in 1997 in the sands of Sharjah for greater peace, harmony, and unity. Visitors are inspired to offer prayers for themselves and others, reflecting on the power of faith, compassion, and hope.

Harmony Wall
Artistically inspired by the flowing desert dunes, the Harmony Wall is UAE's largest 3D printed wall, featuring iconic global landmarks with the BAPS Hindu Mandir at its heart. Inscribed with "Harmony" in many languages, it celebrates Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam — The World is One Family.
Abhishek Mandap
The Abhishek Mandap is a sacred space where visitors perform the ancient Hindu ritual of abhishek by offering water with prayers of devotion and gratitude. This timeless tradition offers an opportunity for peace, blessings, and spiritual renewal.
Ganga Ghat
Ganga Ghat offers visitors the opportunity to experience the sacred traditions of Ganga Pujan and the evening Ganga Aarti. Through prayers, Vedic chants, and the celebration of light over darkness, it inspires peace, hope, and harmony.
Tolerance Trees
The Tolerance Trees feature rare 6,500 years old sub-fossil oaks and the UAE's native desert palms as symbols of tolerance, harmony, and life. Together, they celebrate peaceful coexistence and the message of unity in diversity.
Divine Eye
The Divine Eye is a striking contemporary artwork depicting the confluence of India’s three holy rivers – Ganga, Yamuna, Saraswati. It frames the Mandir's seven spires and symbolises harmony, peace, and spiritual unity. Inspired by the Triveni Sangam, it invites visitors to recognise the divinity within every human being.
Stories in Stone
Stories in Stone reveal the timeless wisdom carved throughout the Mandir, where every sculpture tells a story of faith, culture, and values. These carvings of Divine Hindu Avatars and ancient civilizations celebrate universal human values of compassion, courage, humility, service, and others, reminding humanity of its shared heritage.
The Orchard
The Orchard is a pure vegetarian sattvic food court where meals are prepared according to traditional spiritual principles. Its furniture and furnishings are crafted from reused and repurposed wooden crates that once transported the Mandir's stones, reflecting the Mandir's commitment to sustainability.
Smruti
Smruti is the Mandir's official souvenir and bookshop, offering spiritual books, devotional items, cultural souvenirs, and exclusive gifts. Every keepsake reflects the Mandir's universal values and provides a lasting reminder of the visit.
