BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandirs across North America celebrated Janmashtami, the day marking the birth of Bhagwan Shri Krishna, on a grand scale with many from their respective surrounding communities.
The essence of this year’s program focused on realizing the true divinity of Bhagwan and His actions. Through understanding this, devotees can further their bhakti (devotion) towards God. The program itself consisted of traditional dances and various skits performed by the youth of BAPS to recall the divine incidents of Bhagwan Shri Krishna. Additionally, the event also highlighted the Bhagavad Gita, an ancient Hindu scripture that serves as one of Bhagwan Krishna’s most valuable contributions to mankind.
Both young and old enjoyed the program. The participants worked tirelessly to prepare for the festival, demonstrating their passion, dedication and love towards their traditions and heritage. The program concluded with blessings from His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj, the current spiritual leader of BAPS. Pramukh Swami Maharaj continues to inspire such festivals and programs around the world, striving to engage the youth in many such traditional festivals to keep them connected to their values and culture.
