Karamsad is less than 10 kilometers from the district capital Anand. The town is home to the BAPS Swaminarayan Vidyapith, an all-girls educational institution built in 2001. The curriculum offers instruction for grades 4 through 12 operating on an international education standard. Many of the students are Non-Resident Indians from Europe, North America, and Africa, all of whom board at the hostel. The other students are from different states across India. Girls have the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities from Bharatnatyam classical dance to music. Volunteers from nearby BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha centers visit the girls regularly to lead discussions pertaining to young womanhood and to offer guidance. The environment is designed to create a support system among the girls where they help and encourage each other to become well-rounded individuals. Each group of 20 girls is assigned to a Guru Sanchalika, a motherly figure who tends to their individual needs and helps them in their academics as well as their personal growth.
