Under the guidance of Pramukh Swami Maharaj, the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha has worked to address the needs of hundreds of remote and impoverished villages. Mindful of tribal cultures and practices, the organization has worked to bring education and health care services to remote regions such as Silvassa, Poshina and Sabarkantha.
BAPS volunteers opt to live in these regions and provide these tribal communities with the following services:

Free education and improved literacy for tribal children and youths

Training in trade skills and crafts to help them earn a living

Free medical treatment and medicines through fully equipped mobile medical clinics

Awareness campaigns promoting hygiene and healthy lifestyles

Anti-addiction and intervention services to help members of tribal communities overcome the strain of addiction on one’s health, finances and family relationships

Spiritual guidance to bring an end to theft, gambling and violent crime, and thereby alleviate community discord
