Respecting natural resources is repeatedly highlighted by Pramukh Swami Maharaj. BAPS offers youths the opportunity to participate in various activities to clean up their neighborhood. Working with BAPS Charities and town boards and municipalities, youths organize street cleaning campaigns, riverbank cleanups, and park and green space cleanups. Youths collect trash and maintain lawns and other greenery. Kamlesh Pande from Baroda reflects on the effects from these campaigns in his own life: “Every time I walk down the street and see someone litter, I tap his shoulder and ask him to stop doing so. I have realized that saving planet Earth is a collective effort that I have to participate in and encourage others to do the same.” These programs help youths appreciate the beauty of our Earth and learn to respect the environment in which they live.
