BAPS encourages youths to purse hobbies that breed creativity. Weekly arts and crafts classes and annual summer camps with a dedicated period for drawing, painting, and embroidery inspire thousands of youths around the world to nurture such artistic interests. These classes teach modern art and design along with traditional forms from the ancient Hindu shastras. Instructors focus on technique and cultivating a sense for color and symmetry. These workshops help youths concentrate their energy on healthy pursuits. Many youths have gone on to pursue careers in the arts and have even won recognition by art institutes and local governments. At the center of this development is the spiritual element of bhakti or devotion. Youth are encouraged to draw, paint, sculpt, and create art as a form of devotion to God’s murti.
