At the gathering of over 150,000 to celebrate Bhagwan Swaminarayan's third spiritual successor Shastriji Maharaj's 150th birth anniversary in Vadodara, the gathered volunteers and devotees took a pledge to contribute towards a cleaner India. The pledge was telecast on live television and webcast live on live.baps.org.  The pledge undertaken by all at this occasion is given below.

Today, on the auspicious occasion of Brahmaswarup Shastriji Maharaj’s 150th Birth Anniversary, and by the wish and inspiration of Pragat Brahmaswarup Pramukh Swami Maharaj, we, all the devotees of BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, pledge that we will individually, as families and collectively endeavor to keep our homes, compounds, mandirs, places of residence and nearby public places clean.

Believing cleanliness to be devotion, we will serve to keep our nation clean.
Pledge 1: I will not throw litter or spit anywhere improperly and will not create uncleanliness.
Pledge 2: Every week I will inspire two people towards cleanliness and will show my pledge to five people.
Pledge 3: I will help to keep my home and compound, as well as nearby roads, schools, mandirs and other public places clean.

Jai Swaminarayan.

By the inspiration of Pramukh Swami Maharaj, over the next one year, 9,300 public places in 3,800 cities, towns and villages will be cleaned. 16,000 volunteers will visit homes in underpriviliged areas to create awareness. Cleanliness awareness workshops will be held in 500 schools. 200 cleanliness awareness rallies will be organized.
