1 December 2000: (V.S. 2057, Magshar Sud 5) Friday, Anand (Yagna and Procession)
o Lord Harikrishna Maharaj was honored prior to Swamishri's morning puja.
o This morning, Swamishri arrived for the World Peace Yagna at the Swaminarayan Nagar. 1,460 devotees participated in the yagna by offering rice grains and ghee into 165 sanctified fires. The main stage of the yagna comprised of murtis for ten new mandirs in the Kheda district. Swamishri worshipped them with chandan, rice grains and flowers.
After the yagna rituals an assembly was held on the festival ground.
o In the afternoon, from 3.00 pm to 7.00 pm a grand procession of the murtis to be consecrated at the newly built Swaminarayan Mandir, Anand and the nine mandirs in Kheda district was carried out. The 6km long route carried the procession through the streets of Vidyanagar and Anand.
The procession concluded at the newly built mandir in Anand. The enthusiasm of the devotees and sadhus peaked on seeing Swamishri bless the procession from the mandir balcony. (see special report)
2 December 2000: (V.S. 2057, Magshar Sud 6) Saturday, Anand (Opening of Girls School)
In the presence of Pramukh Swami Maharaj, Shri L. K. Advani, the Home Minister of India, inaugurated the English Medium Residential School for Girls established by Swaminarayan Vidyapith. The state-of-the-art school, inspired by Pramukh Swami Maharaj, will acomoodate 700 girls. (see special report)
3 December 2000: (V.S. 2057, Magshar Sud 7) Sunday, Anand (Murti Pratishtha)
o Swamishri consecrated the murtis of Akshar Purushottam Maharaj, Ghanshyam Maharaj, Harikrishna Maharaj, Laxminarayan Dev, Hanumanji, Ganapatiji and marble murtis of Guru Parampara amidst Vedic rituals. The inauguration of the Shree Swaminarayan Mandir in Anand was a historic event because the devotees of Anand in the time of Shastriji Maharaj were the pillars of BAPS. The murti pratishtha assembly was at the Swaminarayan Nagar. (see special report)
o In the evening, from 7.00 pm to 8.30 pm the APC
(Akshar Purushottam Chhatralaya) Ex-students Convention was held in the presence of Swamishri.
Finally, the students honored the murti of Lord Harikrishna Maharaj.
o Swamishri blessed 20 youths who had jogged with a torch from Limdi to Vidyanagar (148 kms) and youths who had cycled from Surendranagar to Vidyanagar (78 kms) on the occasion of Swamishri's 80th birthday celebration.
7 December 2000: (V.S. 2057, Magshar Sud 11) Thursday, Vidyanagar
Swamishri was stricken with fever on the previous night. Today he rested, met devotees, held a couple of meetings and answered letters. Swamishri recovered a few days later.
14 December 2000: (V.S. 2057, Magshar Vad 4) Thursday, Vidyanagar
Swamishri blessed 65 students of the BAPS hostel for tribal boys in Ukai.
15 December 2000: (V.S. 2057, Magshar Vad 5) Friday, Vidyanagar
On the invitation of Shri C. L. Patel, Swamishri and Dr. V. S. Ram Murti (Central Minister for Science and Technology) inaugurated the 'Sophisticated Instrumentation Center for Applied Research and Training' (SICART) in Vidyanagar.
