More than 350 young children and parents from across the UK came together for an educational and fun-filled outing at Paradise Wildlife Park in Hertfordshire on Saturday 29 April 2017.

The day began with interactive corners for the youngsters to enjoy upon arrival. The activities, ranging from enthralling parachute games to entertaining puppet shows, captivated both children and adults alike, and conveyed the important message of unity within the family and the wider community.

Sadhus began the day with the traditional lighting of divas and reinforced the importance of family harmony and unity in their discourses – a value which is regularly encouraged by His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj. Sadhus also spoke of His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s affection and care for all animals.

Representatives from the Park arrived thereafter with various animals, including tortoises, lizards and snakes. Children were offered a very exciting opportunity to meet and take photographs with the animals as well as touch and interact with them.

The sunshine and natural habitats provided the perfect opportunity for a family picnic. The eager children then explored the Park in earnest. From watching monkeys jump on their swings to face-to-face encounters with lionesses, the diverse range of creatures provided a memorable experience.

The enthusiasm and energy visible throughout the day in both the children and their families was a testimony to the event’s success. Families were able to spend time together as well as make new friends. The outing echoed the sentiments of His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj, who often said, “The family that plays together, stays together.”

One parent commented, “It was a hugely enjoyable day which allowed me to spend some special time with my young children. We should do this every year!”

A father added, “We met so many families from around the country and created lifelong memories. Thank you for organising this event.”
