Each year the 8th of March provides us with the annual occasion to reflect on the great strides that women have made, and continue to make, in the workplace and beyond. The BAPS Women’s Wing organized Women’s Conferences across many centers in Africa as a part of the five-year celebration of the Shatabdi (100th birthday) of His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj, with the inspiring theme of “Saman Upkar”.
The conference in each center comprised of bhajans, dances, speeches and a kaleidoscopic tribute to the qualities of enduring strength, swam-like grace and selfless purpose embodied by all women. The program included multimedia presentations on the “Upkars” of Pramukh Swami Maharaj i.e. Samajik Upkar, Shaikshanik Upkar, Sanskrutik Upkar, Naitik Upkar and Adhyatmik Upkar.
By sharing their different views and opinions, invited guests shared their experiences on the strength that mandir and seva afforded them as well as the strength they drew from spirituality. Youth and children participated in making the programs successful in many centers across Africa.
