During September BAPS centers in Australia and New Zealand held a special Tribute Assembly to honor the saintly life, selfless works and timeless legacy of HH Pramukh Swami Maharaj.
The assemblies began with recital of the dhun, followed by kirtans honoring HH Pramukh Swami Maharaj, a video showcasing his life’s work in caring for countless individuals and the experiences of some whom he inspired to lead a positive and more fulfilling life.
Various heads of government and religious organizations addressed the large crowds gathered at each event and spoke of Pramukh Swami’s amazing achievements and remarkable qualities. These included: Counsellor of the High Commission of India, Mr. Sonal Bajaj (Canberra); Director of Hindu Council of Australia, Mr Prakash Mehta (Canberra); Member of New South Wales Parliament, Dr. Geoffrey Lee (Sydney); Member of Parliament of Rimutaka, Mr Chris Hipkins (Wellington); Member of Victorian Parliament, Mr. Colin Brooks (Melbourne); Member for Northern Metropolitan Region, Mr. Craig Ondarchie (Melbourne); Member of South Australia Parliament, Mr Russel Wortley (Adelaide); Member of South Australia Parliament, Ms Vicki Chapman (Adelaide); Member of South Australian Multicultural and Ethnic Affairs Commission, Maj Gen Vikram Madan (Adelaide); and President of Indian Australian Association of South Australia, Mr Adi Reddy.
BAPS saints also spoke of their personal experiences and the life lessons learnt from the values of Pramukh Swami Maharaj.
The events were also graced by the presence of other local dignitaries, community leaders, devotees and well-wishers.
Each event concluded with the mantra pushpanjali (floral tribute) offered by all who attended to pay respects to H.H. Pramukh Swami Maharaj.
