On December 2nd, a total of 20 basketball and 22 volleyball teams gathered in Greensboro, NC to compete in the Annual Southeast Pramukh Cup. The three-day tournament brought together over 140 participants from all over southeast America. Preparations for the tournament began months in advance, not only in planning but also with teams practicing to prepare for the games.
The overarching theme of the competition was “Samp through Samjam.” This year the focus was on the ideal “Satsangi Athlete.” The ideal satsangi athlete not only trains his body, but also his mind to take on the many challenges to overcome his swabhavs that inhibit him from becoming the ideal devotee. Yuvaks participated in group activities and evening programs with this thought in mind and build deeper spiritual bonds with each other. They also performed daily rituals, such as puja, arti and chesta, together during the event.
His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj, current spiritual leader of the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, continues to build on the vision set forth by HH Pramukh Swami Maharaj of encouraging youth to be involved in all aspects of the organization. Events like this tournament create an environment for yuvaks to grow together in their pursuit of satsang.
