16 November 2016, New Delhi. On the first day of the winter session, Lok Sabha - The Parliament of India paid a glowing tribute to HH Pramukh Swami Maharaj at 11.10 am. Hon. Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Sumitra Mahajan eulogised the life and legacy of Swamiji with these words, "It is with grief I share with this assembly the sad news of the leader of Swaminarayan Sampraday HH Pramukh Swami Shastri Narayanswarupdasji. He passed away on 13 August 2016 in Sarangpur at the age of 95. He was a great enlightened saint and a social reformer who served the smallest and the most neglected people of society. His contributions in the fields of spirituality and humanity shall be remembered eternally forever. This assembly expresses deep sorrow at the passing away of HH Shastri Narayanswarupdas. Let this assembly observe a moment of silence in his honour." Thereafter, the Hon. Prime Minister, Cabinet Ministers, Ministers and all the Members of Parliament present in the assembly stood up in silence and prayer.
