An inaugural Volleyball tournament, “Pramukh Cup 2014” was organised by the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan satsang mandal of Melbourne, at the precincts of Warrawee Park on the weekend of 9-10 August 2014.
This tournament had a special message of team work, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”
A total of 8 teams participated with the aim of taking home the Pramukh Cup - each was named after one of the many virtues of Pramukh Swami Maharaj as embodied in his life, i.e. Satyam, Shrutam, Samyam, Dhairyam, Aishvaryam, Smrutihi, Santoshaha, Kirtihi.
The tournament began with tremendous enthusiasm and eagerness, the ground full of competitiveness and alive with fun and happiness. The event consisted of 4 main rounds: league, quarter final, semi final and grand final. Over 48 sets were played, which led to the final between teams Dhairyam and Smrutihi, with team Smrutihi lifting Pramukh Cup 2014 with a decisive 2 set victory over team Dhairyam.
During the tournament, players learned about benefits of harmony and bonding. They also learned about the virtues of HH Pramukh Swami Maharaj practiced and preached with great dedication throughout his life.
