As part of the Bal-Balika Mandal’s multi-event Kidz Ultimate Challenge, children from BAPS Swaminarayan Satsang Mandal, Paris participated in a sports challenge on Sunday 28 July 2012.
On a day blessed with fine weather, more than 40 balaks and balikas aged between 5 and 14 enthusiastically gathered in the heart of the capital for the Mandal’s first sporting event of its kind. It incorporated track races, the long jump, a sack race, basketball and penalty shootouts.
Parents also joined in for some of the competitions, in keeping with the objective of the event to engage and inspire both children and parents.
Excitement remained high throughout the day, and a great sense of unity was created among the participants. Children accumulated points from events and those who came first, second and third were presented with gold, silver and bronze medals.
After the awards-giving ceremony, there was still plenty of time for the fun and games to continue. Parents and children played football, cricket and volleyball together for the rest of the fun-filled day. There was a great sense of community spirit as the Mandal pulled together to make it a memorable event for all who attended.
