About 300 devotees celebrated the auspicious Yogi Jayanti festival at Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Mayfair West (Johannesburg) on Sunday 28 May 2006 between 5 and 7 pm. This celebration assembly was handled entirely by the Kishore and Yuvak mandal. The sabha took the form of a television programme called “Yogi Smaran Network;” in which various items glorifying the life and message of Yogiji Maharaj were presented. These items included a fun-filled sketch in which devotees from the time of Yogiji Maharaj were interviewed and a live drama on Yogiji Maharaj’s folk tale, The Greedy Brahmin.
Speeches on the glory of Yogiji Maharaj by Pramukh Swami Maharaj and senior sadhus were relayed through audio-video presentations. Bhajans were also sung by the youths.
It was an evening charged with the sanctity of Yogiji Maharj’s divine personality and spiritual presence.
