The new BAPS Swaminarayan Vidyamandir in Raisan is built on a 30-acre site on the outskirts of Raisan village, which is located off the highway midway between Amdavad and Gandhinagar.

On Wednesday 28 June 2006, Pramukh Swami Maharaj and the Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the first phase which will provide teaching for pupils from the nursery level up to Standard 4.

This English medium school will eventually provide education up to Standard 12 and also residential facilities.

The school campus features spacious classrooms, an extensive library and will provide facilities for football, cricket, tennis, basketball, badminton, volleyball, athletics, swimming, skating, gymnastics, yoga and other extra-curricular activities.

The President of India, Dr. APJ Abdul kalam also sent his best wishes with a handwritten message for all the students.

Courage to combat the problem and succeed,
Are the unique quality of youth.

Also present for the inauguration were many leading politicians, businessmen, industrialists, educationalists and other dignitaries.

Addressing the assembly, the Chief Minister said, "The 21st century is a century of knowledge. It is India's century, since India has much youth potential and a tradition at its root. This educational complex inspired by Pramukh Swami Maharaj combines wisdom and values."

In his blessings, Pramukh Swami Maharaj said, "Whatever is written if not read; whatever read if not analyzed; whatever analyzed if not practiced in life, then what is the point of writing? So, pray daily to God and endeavor sincerely. Live a life of character. And serve one's parents, society and country."
