BAPS Canada under the official banner of BAPS Relief International Inc. held its first Medical Clinic at the new Shree Swaminarayan Mandir - Haveli. BAPS youths welcomed all guests and visitors in the grand entrance lobby of the new Haveli and provided a tour of the facility inspired by HDH Pramukh Swami Maharaj. Community and business leaders cut the ribbon in the presence of Thakorji and P. Jnanpriya Swami and P. Munitilak Swami to inaugurate the first Medical Clinic. Under the coordination of Dr. Kiritbhai Thakkar, medical professionals including doctors and nurses volunteered their services free of charge. People took advantages of the free services and information booths.
Free Medical Services provided at this clinic included: Flu vaccination Measurement of weight, height and Body Mass Index using a computer Blood sugar measurement Blood pressure measurement People with poor results were given guidance by volunteer doctors to visit their family physicians for further testing and treatment. Information Booths: In addition, doctors were available to offer free information and guidance at information booths in: Diabetes Heart & Stroke Foundation Nutrition Eye Care Cancer Prevention Children's Health Stress / Anxiety / Depression Senior's Health There were also multi-media displays with video presentations on healthy living.
At the end of the very successful Clinic the volunteer doctors, nurses and other medical professionals were provided with Certificates and gifts by BAPS recognizing their service to the community. Refreshments were provided for all visitors and volunteer medical professionals. BAPS youth volunteers provided excellent Parking seva for all guests and visitors to the clinic.
