This year’s Regional KarCon Shibir was held in Chicago from December 19th to the 21st. Twenty-eight Kishoris from the Midwest participated representing Toronto, Chicago, Minneapolis, Cleveland, Columbus and Detroit. The theme of the shibir was “Samarpan: the Power of One.” The theme, along with the related activities, workshops and classroom sessions, allowed the kishoris to understand what their role is and how they can help improve all aspects of kishori mandal with special emphasis on the quality of kishori mandal sabhas.
The highlights of the one and half day event were the workshops. The presenters did a magnificent job explaining the significance of smart goal making, motivating a team, master of ceremony practice, gosthi, making effective speeches and follow up. More importantly, however, they conducted their presentations so as to involve the audience to the greatest extent. This allowed all the kishoris to get a “hand’s on” experience so that they can go back to their respective centers and implement what they learned in KarCon.
