Edison (women's wing)
The mahila mandals (ladies wings) of the Northeast region of the United States celebrated the 221st birthday of Lord Swaminarayan on Saturday, April 27, 2002, at the BAPS temple in Edison, NJ. Inspired by H.D.H. Pramukh Swami Maharaj, the cultural program was the collaborative effort of women and youth from eight BAPS centers. Several skits depicting the devotion of eight women devotees of Lord Swaminarayan demonstrated the central theme of the evening: "Bhakti to Lord Purushottam has the power to eradicate Maya." Approximately 1600 women attended the festivities, and the evening concluded with mahaprasad prepared by the Edison mahila mandal.
